Dr. David Goodman
Physician EntrepreneurDr. Goodman is an established serial entrepreneur. He currently serves as an independent consultant. He also serves on the board of directors and audit committee of NeuroMetrix (NASDAQ:NURO), a neurodiagnostics company. Previously, Dr. Goodman served as President and CEO of BaroSense, an emerging company developing implanted devices for treating obesity. Prior to BaroSense, Dr. Goodman was CEO of Pherin Pharmaceuticals, a biopharmaceutical company focused on CNS therapeutic agents. Dr. Goodman was the founder of LifeMasters Supported SelfCare, a disease management company. He also co-founded Aradigm (NASDAQ: ARDM) a leader in aerosol drug delivery technologies. Dr. Goodman began his career as the first engineer at Nellcor Incorporated, co-inventing the disposable sensors for the pulse oximeter. He has an MSE in Bioengineering from the University of Pennsylvania and his MD, cum laude, from the Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology. David holds 18 US patents and a California medical license.
Ben Levitan
Partner, In-Q-TelMr. Ben Levitan is a Partner at In-Q-Tel, the strategic investment arm of the U.S. Intelligence Community. Since joining IQT, he has completed investments in several companies and currently serves on the Boards of Directors (Observer) at: Veracode, QD Vision, febit GmbH, and Innocentive. Mr. Levitan also served on the Board (Observer) at Corestreet Ltd. (acquired by ActivIdentity) and completed investments in ThingMagic, ImageTree and other Companies. Previously, Mr. Levitan served as CEO or senior executive at EnvoyWorldWide, (now Varolii), Viant Corporation (NASDAQ: VIAN), James Martin & Co. (now Headstrong), and Cambridge Technology Partners (NASDAQ: CATP). Mr. Levitan served as a Director of ProPhotonix (NASDAQ: STKR) and Primavera Systems prior to its sale to Oracle Corporation. Mr. Levitan is an active member of Young Presidents Organization (YPO). Mr. Levitan received a B.A. from Union College and studied at the London School of Economics.
Nicholas Negroponte
Professor of Media Arts and Sciences, Chairman Emeritus, MIT Media LaboratoryNicholas Negroponte is founder and chairman of the One Laptop per Child non-profit association. He is currently on leave from MIT, where he was co-founder and director of the MIT Media Laboratory. A graduate of MIT, Negroponte was a pioneer in the field of computer-aided design, and has been a member of the MIT faculty since 1966. Conceived in 1980, the Media Laboratory opened its doors in 1985. He is also author of the 1995 best seller, Being Digital, which has been translated into more than 40 languages. In the private sector, Negroponte serves on the board of directors for Motorola, Inc. and as general partner in a venture capital firm specializing in digital technologies for information and entertainment. He has provided start-up funds for more than 40 companies, including Wired magazine.
Brad Oleshanksy
President, Big Communications, Inc.Brad Oleshansky is a corporate attorney with extensive experience in the marketing and promotions industry. Brad started his career at the Beverly Hills, CA law firm of Lowy & Zucker, representing clients in the entertainment, licensing, and marketing industries. He then spent a combined eight years in an executive capacity at both Equity Marketing and Simon Marketing, two of the world’s leading promotional marketing companies, representing clients such as McDonald’s, Burger King, Toys “R” Us, Safeway, Old Navy, Hallmark and many more. He also spent two years as Vice President of Business Affairs at Game Show Network (a Sony Pictures Entertainment company) where he was responsible for structuring all business relationships and developing ancillary revenue opportunities. Brad has been the Chief Operating Officer of Big Communications since 2004. In this role, Brad oversees the day-to-day operation of the company, including finance, human resources, administration and operations. Additionally, Brad is responsible for strategic planning, partnerships/alliances and new product development. He is a member of the California and District of Columbia Bars.
Daniel Paterson
CEO and President, DNA Repair CompanyMr. Paterson’s background includes over twenty years in the healthcare industry, including extensive experience in venture-backed startups. He is currently President and CEO of The DNA Repair Company, a molecular diagnostics company developing oncology personalized medicine products. Previously he was head of global patient data strategy at IMS Health which he joined as a result of the acquisition of PharMetrics, his previous company. At PharMetrics he held the positions of Vice President of Marketing and Corporate Development, Vice President of Business Development and Vice President of Sales and Marketing. Prior to PharMetrics, Mr. Paterson held positions as Vice President of Product Management and Vice President of Business Development at CareTools, an innovative healthcare information systems company. Prior to that he held various management positions with OnCare, a physician practice management company, and Axion, a cancer-focused pharmaceutical and clinical service firm, where he led a number of key strategic initiatives. Mr. Paterson began his career managing clinical trials programs in both industry and academic settings. He holds a Bachelor degree in Biology from Boston University, and attended Northeastern University’s graduate Pharmacology program.
James O. Prochaska
Founder, ProChange Behavioral SystemsDr. Prochaska also serves as Director of the Cancer Prevention Research Center and Professor of Psychology at the University of Rhode Island. Named one of the five most influential authors in Psychology by the Institute for Scientific Information and the American Psychological Society, he is one of the originators of the Transtheoretical Model of Change and the author of more than 250 papers on behavior change for health promotion and disease prevention. He is the author of Systems of Psychotherapy, The Transtheoretical Approach: Crossing the Traditional Boundaries of Therapy and Changing for Good. He has served as Principal Investigator on over $70 million in research grants on the prevention of cancer and other chronic diseases. He earned his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at Wayne State University. Dr. Prochaska has received numerous honors, including major awards from the American Cancer Society, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the American Psychological Association, the Society for Prospective Medicine and Harvard University, and the Healthtrac Foundation.
